1917 World War I rages across Europe...and Portugal is in the grip of a repressive, anti-religious government. As three children play in a meadowland near Fatima, they see a vision, a woman in a cloud of light who brings prophesies and words of faith. Local officals hear of the vision and threaten the children with torture if they don't recant. But the youthful believers cling to their convictions, inspiring the faith of the community...and far beyond. Seventy thousand people pour into Fatima after the children report the vision will perform a miracle. On the promised day the crowd stands in a drenching rain, waiting. Suddenly the sun appears, whips across the darkened sky, and plummets madly toward the earth. The terrified multitude braces for disaster - but the sun slowly returns to its place in the heavens. In the meadowland below, the lame walk...the blind see...and the stunnec crowd, including the children's formerly agnostic friend (Gilbert Roland), rejoice in the miracle they have witnessed.
A beautiful, breathtaking tale in the tradition of "Song of Bernadette" and "Key to the Kingdom", The Miracle of Our Lady of Fatima is a glorious tribute to the triumph of human faith - and a memorable movie recreation of ents which changed the world.
